One of Eco Lassie’s favorite parts of holiday decorating is putting those stockings across the mantel and then filling them up! It’s a good kind of challenge to find those smaller eco-friendly gifts to tuck into toes or stick out of the tops.
You can never go wrong with scented soaps, and this year Good Earth Beauty.com has their Floriography soaps available in six different scents at $7 each.
Their hand cream is available in four scents for $14 in either a cream or pump bottle lotion, in wonderful smells such as Lily and Apple Blossom, and Tea Rose. Made in England, these products have all natural ingredients and essential oils and are paraben free.
One of Eco Lassie’s favorite things to give is trees. For only $3, the Arbor Day Foundation will mail you a tube with a seedling of either redwood, pine or spruce for planting. And the tube can be recycled into a birdfeeder! A gift that keeps on giving.
Organic lip balm is always welcome and especially at this time of year. In its recycled tube, Eco Lassie’s favorite is Burt’s Bee’s with pomegranate oil, at various stores. Another option that packs more of a WOW factor is Yes to Carrots Lip Butter, with their set of 5 for $12.99 in flavors of carrot, berry, citrus, melon and mint.
For the gourmet on your list, try The Ticket Kitchen‘s hot chocolate stirrers. At $4 each, these goodies come in flavors like chili, mint and truffle.
EcoTools Cosmetic Applicators are washable and made with sustainable-bamboo handles. A pack of 20 is only $2 and contains several different sizes, available from iherb.com.
From Mighty Nest, the straw lover in your house can stop throwing out those plastic or paper straws. Get a set of four BPA-free, medical grade polished stainless steel straws for $9.95. Available straight or bent, these cuties are dishwasher safe.
Eco Lassies’ favorite new gadget issure to please everyone. Micro Lite Tech has a super-bright LED stick up light that’s only the size of a nickel; a set of 3 for $19.99 let’s you drop one in several stockings. The uses of this are over a hundred and counting, but Eco Lassie’s fave so far is to stick one on the breaker panel. Just push the button and it pops up to light up the entire panel and fix that breaker. It’s small size makes it useful in many applications and places. It was first developed to light up a TV remote AND the battery lasts for 30 hrs of use, making it a keeper.
Neither Eco Lassie nor Eco Women have profited by the mention of these items.
Finally, an Eco Tip for readers for the holidays: When that glitter nail polish you wore to the holiday party doesn’t look office-ready Monday morning, remove it easily by soaking a piece of felt in remover. Press it against each nail for 30 seconds and swipe that glittery polish away!
