Relax, Rejuveniate and Re-energize

We all need a little “time-out” every now and then – especially parents because we spend so much time and energy doing things for others. Here’s one way to have a Calgon moment and be taken away to your own quiet place, with a low-cost spa session of your own making.

Here’s all you’ll need: a bowl and a spoon (preferably stainless steel so that they will clean up easily-no need to create more work)

Some Epsom salt and a candy or kosher-salt shaker

and a little essential oil. You can get essential oils at Whole Foods, or other organic stores. They usually cost about $7.00 for 1/4 ounce and that will go a long way. I chose Daphne oil because I love the flower but I also debated chocolate and orange (maybe even a mixture of the two–but then I thought that wouldn’t help my diet).

Pour 1 cup Epsom salt into the bowl and about 1/16 to 1/8 ounce of your own favorite essential oil (depending on how mild or strong you want to make your own aromatherapy treatment).
Then after you’ve stirred your ingredients up to blend them well, spoon the contents into your shakerTwist on your cap and add a bow, if you’d like. You’ve just created a wonderful gift for a friend or even yourself.

Some people like to add a drop or two of food coloring to their mixture: say red for Valentine’s Day, Green for St. Paddy’s Day, etc. but I prefer my bathsalts pure. You can be as creative or simple as you like. I’ve thought about adding crushed lavender and rose petals to some of my mixtures, or rosemary and sage. It just depends on what appeals to you. Play around and try a few different creations. It’s all going to be some good clean fun 😉Here is another site with some recipes you might want to check out.
