How did you do?

candles.jpg

So, how was Earth Hour ‘08? Did you do it? (Turn off your lights, that is.)

Recycla and her family turned everything off, including appliances and even the hot water heater. They lit a few soy candles and enjoyed the flickering flames while they talked about this, that, and the other.

Let the Eco Women know if you participated in Earth Hour ‘08 — either partially or completely — and how it went.

We did! It was quiet in the house and cloudy here - I really wanted to see the stars…darn!

We did! I blogged here. My favorite part: listening to our hand-cranked “emergency” radio, which worked quite well for this. We especially enjoyed finding a 1940s radio drama on the local NPR station.

*hangs head in shame*

Whips out excuses:
I was in Scotland
At my parents house
We were starving
We (mum and dad, me and husband, brother and his wife) put the kids to bed and ordered Chinese
We had the hot plate on to keep the food warm
We had whisky to keep us warm
The dining room light was on

Everything else was off though…

Sorry world

Jen

Also hanging head shamefully–had my mother-in-law in town all weekend and she isn’t keen to get on board with this sort of thing. I kept us down to only a table lamp, however, by which the children and I played board games while she and Mr. D watched NCAA basketball. Sometimes the best bet for a good environment is a compromise ;)
